I have a few very, very, tiny rock chips on my hood. I'm thinking they would look worse if they were touched up. These are about the size of a pin head or smaller. Any trade secrets on how to handle them?
If you are talking about a coulple deeper chips I agree with the above. However, if you have just sever dozen little tiny chips throughout the nose clip and hood, not through the paint, I would suggest buffing with a wool or foam pad and some perfectit III. You follow up with normal swirl removal and polishing and wax. Now if they are through the clear coat and the paint either use the above method for a few or new paint if there are many. gl
take a look at "paint chip repair" on my web site, on the Corvette side. There are several approaches. I really favor the old method of touchup paint if there are only two or three lesions. But you can't just lay the paint there. you have to let it dry, put a layer of clear coat over the top, then wet sand. Then you buff it up to a perfect shine. It sounds difficult but it is so simple anyone can do it. Check out the David Bynon article on my web page that shows you how to do it.
If you just don't want to do that, I'd recommend using touchup123. it does a fantastic job, and you can cover an entire front end, to a finished result in 1/2 hour (not 5 days, which is what it takes of you carefully touchup paint, wet sand and buff.)
Look into touchup123 - it's an excellent product. My own before/after photos are also on my web site. I have no connection to the manufacturer. good luck!
