Default need Leaf Blower recommendation

Drying my FRC with towels takes forever! The water blade scares me so I think I'll go the leaf blower route. Which one(s) is/are the best. There seems to be many types and prices. Recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks.

I bought a gas Craftsman, I think 200mph and haven't had any luck with it. It seems easier to me just to dry it with towells. That sucker gets heavy long before I get all the water off.

I just got a Toro today. Paid 59 something for it. I used it on my truck today and liked it.

I have used the Toro for over a year and it really gets the water off, especially in the area that seem to hold water. Just blows the water off.

Make sure you get at least a 200mph one. I tried a smaller unit and it didn't work that effective.

I use a Toro electric blower that I got from Home Depot. Works perfect. I believe it's the 210mph version...

Just reseached them for myself...but bought for different reasons. Anyway, most important spec is the CFM...NOT the H/P. Compare models when you buy...it makes a big difference in performance.

I'm not sure where, I've read this because I belong to three different Vette forums. But it was mentioned, in agreence from everyone who posted on that string. Make sure you get an electric one b/c since the gas uses a gas/oil mixture, it will blow the residue on your vehicle.(Most, gas blowers exaust through the blow tunnel.) Also, I read that you should put a pair of nylons panty hose on the inlet side to filter the air so no sand or other foreign matter gets picked up and hurled at the car. The Toro Super Blow 5000, and at least 200mph wind speed, was recommended.

Good Luck

Toro electric here too. Get the one with the largest CFM/MPH rating.

Gas blowers are not fast enough. Electric is better, but watch out using an electric blower on a wet patch of concrete. I usually push the car up to a dry spot and blow away. Toro electric worked very well until it burned up. Bought a gas Craftsman and it sucks for this purpose. Gotta get a new Toro.

Buy the Water Blade. Used on a Zaino'tized finish, it's a "breeze". I use one regularly on my black C5. It takes 5 minutes, and 2 minutes with a towel for the few remaining spots. And it's quiet, lightweight, packs away nicely.

Let's see; unroll the 12 guage 50 foot extension cord, plug up the blower, blow for 5 minutes, put the blower away, roll up the extension cord. Whew! I'll be on on 2nd cool brew by then!

Guys, I've posted this before, but the best way to have some great success with the blower is to do a real quick and sloppy wipe on the car first. Use a water blade, synthetic chamois, towel, whatever and run around and get about 90% of the water off that way. It souldn't take more than about one minute to get most of the big beads of water off. Then go to town with the blower. It will really do a great job getting all the water out of the nooks and crannies. Then wipe the doorjambs and lower areas. Then do a nice final wipe or spritz and wipe to finish the job.
I've been doing extreme high end detailing for 17+ years, and that will work for most anyone, just don't let hard water dry on your car in the sun. Ever.
The best blower IMHO is the 6.25 hp RIGID brand Wet/Dry Vacuum from Home Depot. The vacuum motor is detachable and viola! you have a 210mph blower too! Another benefit to the RIGID vacuum is the fact that if it ever breaks, and I mean ever Home Depot simply gives you a new one. They are great.

I used a leaf blower today for the first time. I was not terribly impressed and ended up finishing the job with a towel. However, the blower does a GREAT job getting the water out of the cracks and crannies. My C3 tail lights and spoiler are quite frustrating to get dry -- they drip all day. The blower helps reduce the drip. Another thing is the blower worked awesome on the glass tops!

I guess any blower will do. I agree with getting most of the water off first. Another thing is, if you have hard water like we do here, it will spot on the car. The blower seems to make smaller beads of water and thus smaller spots, but they must be wiped up (haven't had a problem with that yet though). The blower does an excellent job of chasing the water around on the hood. :D
