My hinges look brand new....no gunk...yet 3 years old. Not sure what the original owner used to keep them lubed, but they swing freely without binding or screeching.
Like the two of you, I wipe down with a detail spray. Sure seems weird not having chunks of grease or over sprayed white lithium or silicone all over.
