OK . . . I admit it. Mine hasn't been in the rain as of yet. Been pretty particular and if there's a possiblity of rain, I take my other DD. Anyway, the main reason is not that I won't be able to clean it up to the same degree that I always do, but rather I don't want any water drying on it much less on a hot hood, leaving dried, burned in deposits, etc. etched into the paint. It's also been Rejexed all this time. Anyone else been concerned about this or that there's not a problem if you have a good coat of protectant (wax, polish, etc.)? Seems I've been more protective of this on my vette than any other car I've owned.
unfortunately acid rain, industrial fallout, and other contaminents can be in the rain and as youve noted attached to your finish. Over time without protection it will etch the surface. You want to wash as soon as possible, and miss out on rainy season as possible too. But remember a Corvette was bought to be driven ...sometimes you gotta go where the clouds might appear.

Thanks. It's been protected by even rain so far, but alot of the guys don't mind if theirs is out in it and worse. I haven't acquired that philosophy as of yet (probably want) but just wanted to hear about the way others care about theirs. Mostly with me it's the drying/baking of the deposits on a hot hood when your away from the house and can't quickly wash and dry it off.
maybe its just me, but i don't really think you have to wash the car within 30 minutes of rain. i usually get mine washed an gone over with a detail spray the next day, and I haven't had any issues. again, the car was made to be driven, and, with the right tires, she actually handles very well in the rain; as long as you stay away from the REALLY deep puddles.

I don't drive mine in any weather if I can help it. The biggest problem is rain beading up on the hood and then sunlight magnifying through the acid rain and etching the surface. You really need to get that off immediately if the sun is going to shine.
