After you are done cleaning it properly, I would say find some stuff called CD-2 engine dressing. This stuff is awesome it creates a nice look and darn good protection that lasts.

becareful of silicone dressings and silicone based sprays underhood. It attracts dust and dirt and can make items actually look worse quicker. Use a water based dressing like 303 protectant. Silicones (low end) can also prematurely break down rubber components.

I like Adam's In-n-Out Spray under the hood for its ease of application and results, but am not sure whether it has silicone?

Where can I buy some of this CD-2 engine dressing? I've looked and looked, and looked again and can't find it. I'm in Canada and it may not be available here but maybe I can get it shipped here, but I still can't find it. TIA

I can find it at Autozone here in the states. You might try Amazon, I think they sell it in the case, its expensive due to shipping.
