Quick question. How many orange pads will I need to go over the car the first time? In other words, will I use one pad for the whole car or need to constantly change to a clean pad? Or should I ( and how would I) just clean the same pad as I go. Thanks.
I'm just a weekend driveway "buffer". I only use one, I could see where maybe a second for the other half of the car might be justified but mine vehicles are not in "bad" shape to begin with.

I usually use two or three, but then I use smaller 4" pads. After a while, the pad becomes too saturated with product and begins to lose effectiveness. At that point I swap out to a new pad. When I'm all done, I wash them so they're ready for next time.
8-12 on a car for me. I like a fresh pad for each panel.
WOW.
I use 2 usually. I find they work better after they season for a panel or so...I don't even like a fresh pad that much. Then, another 1-2 for the fine polish if there's a second phase.
But I would BUY at least 4-5...that way, you can change the pad for different polishing compounds and not have to wait for one to dry. Also, they hardly last forever, and sometimes get chewed up on rough edges (wheel well bolt heads).
Thanks for the help. I have a couple extra orange pads that I'll use 1st time out and a white to finish it off. Just need spring to come around so I can get started....
I would use one for each polish. I find it better to do the top half first and if you pick up some junk on the pad I go in the house and clean it and then continue. I find that once you get started and the pad get saturated they work much better but a new pad for each product. My $0.02
Yea, when i got my pc last summer, I got the xmt with it. So i used an orange with the xmt (labeled pad) on my truck just to try it out. Worked pretty well. I knew I needed something with a bit more bite for the vette so I purchased some wg tsr 3.0. I plan on using it for the 1st time this spring and changing up what LSP I use on the car, just to try something different (will be using rejex w/a coat of wg fuzion on top).
