I took off the wheels of GS 530 this beautiful PA weekend for a good
scrubbing. The inside of the front wheels had blobs of grease on the rim
that fell off the suspension parts. I cleaned the suspension pieces all
spic an span, scrubbed the wheels and coated the rims with Zaino. Now you
can eat off of them.
What do you use to clean the areas like around the shock? All that flat
black frame paint? I used McGuires trim gold to clean the black plastic
wheel wells. I see some of these cars in shows and everything is so clean I
can't figure out how they do it. There must be some tricks.
I like using Griots Garage Undercarriage spray. Its a silicone spray that gives a nice shiny wet look. I use it on my Blazer, daily driver, and it looks good for about a month, then you will need to do it again.
So you clean the wheelwells with soap/cleaner and a towel. I haven't tried this yet but I'd think if you don't apply some kind of protectant, they'll still look like rats butt.
Yes, I use Z-16, I put it in a fine spray bottle ( an old hair spray bottle) so you don't spray it on to heavy. This way it hits the spots that are hard to reach by hand. :)
Wow... Z-16 is EXPENSIVE for wheelwells. No WAY I would use a 13 dollar item for a thing that people rarely see.
Instead of SPENDING money... just use whatever junk you kept around.
You know that Armor All that you stopped using because it had silicone and you didnt want it to touch anything because it is a painters worst nightmare? Use that on it. Who cares about silicone on the wheel wells?
Just use some junk that makes it look good.
I was the car- Then I use the remaining car wash... take a dirty garage rag, and wipe underneath.
Then I take another dirty (a little cleaner) garage rag, and put armor all, or any other crappy "shiny" products I have lying around, OR 303 aerospace (if I run out of armorall or other crappy products). Then it is ALOT cheaper.
