Default Engine Detailing

Being fairly new to the corvette world, how does everyone keep their engine bay so clean. Pressure washers, shampoo, qtips? Being an ex-hard core off road guy, spotless was not my thing. Hose the big chunks off so you didn't get filthy when you fixed it was the normal routine. I mean it was clean, but some of the pictures on this site, the engine bay is cleaner than the inside of my house. Give me some labor saving hints, please.

i'D MOVE IT TO THE CAR CARE SECTION ALSO, BUT i DON'T KNOW HOW!

For initial cleaning, the engine should be warm, not hot. Thoroughly cover the engine with a safe cleaner/degreaser (P21s Total Auto Wash, etc.), and always be mindful of the computer and other sensitive electronics with water and cleaner. Allow the cleaner to dwell for a couple of minutes (in the shade) and then gently agitate with various brushes/mitts. Once clean, rinse. Again use caution and common sense here - the motor and electronics are pretty well sealed, but do not concentrate water on any one spot for too long.

Once cleaned and rinsed, I like to run the engine for a few minutes to help dissipate excess water. Then I will follow with some towels to dry. After dry, apply a quality water-based dressing to all plastics, rubber, etc. and use something like AIO (all-in-one) to clean and protect painted areas.
