Sorry if this has been covered. I did a search, but no luck.
1) Can I use glass cleaner to clean the HUD lens?
2) When cleaning and dressing the dash, I stuff a cloth on the HUD to protect it. Is there a better way to protect the HUD lens?
I typically do not use glass cleaners on them, but it also depends on the cleaner. Generally I like to use the Chemical Guys Plastic Cleaner and Protectant on tho screens, plastic gauge covers, etc. It does a great job of cleaning and protecting the surface without leaving a thick residue behind. I also use this product a lot on my lap top, cell phone, ipod, etc.
To prevent product from getting on the HUD I highly recommend just spraying the product directly on the microfiber towel outside of the vehicle. This eliminates all the over spray problems and helps you complete a nice even coverage of product.
As offered, dont spray directly into the Hud. Spray on towel and buff. I find Stoners Invisible Glass to work well , even Plexus, on a MF WW Glass Towel.
As for getting around the HUD for cleaning. Your method is great. I do find for glass cleaning specifically you need a Glass Master to get the area behind the HUD however.
Scott, I already have the glass master which I ordered from you over a year ago. Works great! BTW, I just ordered a few items (4/02) and forgot to use "corvetteforum" in the coupon box.
As you and others have mentioned, I use Stoner's for the glass but I haven't used it on the HUD lens.
