Maybe this is too much for some, but I enjoy detailing not only the engine compartment, but putting the car up on the lift and doing the underside also.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what to use on the underside components, the aluminum, plastic, etc, and does anyone have any tips on doing the detailing?
Thanks for your help.
Then I would use the products that you are now using on the engine bay and the rest of the car. Whatever you have for metals, plastic, and rubber will work on the underside also. Since the car is on a lift, I'd take the wheels off so you can access the wheel wells easily and do the inside of the wheels also. The only real tip I can give you is to wait for the exhaust system to cool down before working around those components....
I typically spray down the bottom with a good degreaser like the P21S Total Auto Wash or the Chemical Guys Grime Reaper. Spray with care so it doesn't blow back towards your eyes. I scrub any accessible areas and rinse the rest down with a hose. When I'm done I spray the undercarriage with the Chemical Guys Bare Bones for protection and a nice finish. I spray it on the black or gray parts which are usually the sub frame, springs, wheel wells, fender wells, etc. It's a pretty simple routine that makes me happy and it makes me feel like I'm taking at least some care of the undercarriage. Let me know if you have any questions.
