Default Question about Buffer pads / colors

Hi all,

It's been some time since I've used some of my pads, and as a result I can't recall which is more aggressive than the other:

They are all 4" spot buff pads from Lake County. I have green ones and white ones. I know they are pretty close together in terms of performance. But which is the more aggressive of the two?

The white is more aggressive by one level above the green. Out of the seven pads from Lake Country, yellow being the most aggressive and red being the less. The green white is the third most agressive and the green is the fourth most agressive. Hope that helps.

I stand corrected. I was going by the chart that was shipped with my pads. It shows yellow, orange, white, green, gray, blue, and last red. I assumed that they were in order of aggression. The chart at your link clears that up. Thank's for the heads up. It's easy to jump to conclusions.

I have not seen this before, thanks.

I have orange, white, and black, and imo that covers everything.

That is not correct. The green pads he has are custom made for us and are LESS abrasive than the white. You guys are confusing these with the OTHER green (medium) pads we have, which do fit in the way that scale describes...but the ones he is using are between a white and gray pad.

It applies to the 4", 5.5", and 6.5" CCS pads. There are two versions, the coarse/medium cutting green pad, and the green polishing/finishing. Pilot has the latter.

Now I'm really confused. The pads that I ordered with my Flex from AutoGeek came with a SmartPads Polishing Guide pamphlet. On the front cover of that pamphlet it lists seven pads. Are these in order of their abrasiveness?

Sorry, but LC still says the green is more aggressive in the 4" CCS spot buff pads...

http://www.lakecountrymfg.com/spotbuffpads_ccs.html

So LC ranks them like this (most aggressive to least aggressive):
Yellow, Orange, Green, White, Black, Blue, Red

http://www.autogeek.net/4inch-spot-buffs.html

Autogeek ranks them (most aggressive to least aggressive):
Yellow, Orange, White, Green, Black, Blue, Red

Well this sucks!! I guess I'll just pick one and run with it! I have to get my car touched up for a show Friday but don't expect to have time to go over it with two different kinds of pads. I know I don't need the orange pads; or the SIP; I'll run with the Nano and the greens and see if that works for me.

Right, like I said the medium/coarse green pad is more abrasive than a white pad. But the custom green polishing/finishing pad, which isn't listed in those LC links, is between a white and gray.

It's in your neck of the woods! Eagle River! It's at the McDonald Center (kinda next to Fred Meyers). Are you with the Anchorage Corvette Club? We're all meeting at Captain Chuck's (next to Northway mall) and will depart there at 5:30pm Friday as a group. We'll probably hang out at the show for a couple hours. Even if you're not a member, I dont think anyone would mind you coming along anyway as a "prospective" member. I think the venue charges $5 to get in; they did last year.

Any questions, shoot me a PM!

The gang at Autogeek is very very good at what they do. Duane has helped me many times with questions and problem solving. These guys know their stuff. I have improved my technique and results several time over following their advise. I too have an assortment of pads for various uses. The Autogeek website has a Lake Country chart that specifically identifies all their pads and uses.
