To the OP, I have been very happy with the Z clay.
To the rest, clay may or may not remove the prior wax/sealant.
A wash, clay, wash, machine polish will, thereby assuring a clean and properly prepared slate.
IMO this is the only way to go, and it eliminates any need/use of dawn.

It was the first time I've clayed.
My black 08 C6 was as smooth as glass.
So my wife asked me to clay her diamond white Cadillac SRX.......WOW!
After we where done the clay looked bad....It had some grit.
Two weeks later my father-in law asked me to help clay his 07 F-150
It removed some bad spots in his paint.
So now he's hooked on Zaino!
