Just washed my rims and noticed this....see 2nd pic
First pic is a new not driven on rim, second is on one driven 4 times..
Front barrel, (not driven on)
Rear barrel, (driven on 4 times) spots are raised, I can feel them I've had MANY sets of rims with chrome inners and NEVER saw this before... Any ideas?
What you have there is pitting, there's not much you can do here as the plating is failing.
How old are the wheels and what brand are they? What do you normally use to clean your wheels?
If the wheels are still under warranty contact the vendor/manufacturer and see what they can do to help you out. Worst case scenario yo can take some super fine steel wool and buff out the pitting to out them smooth again but they will not be perfect, close enough though seeing as its on the inner barrel. Keep us posted.
Certainly looks like damage to the chrome coating, I would get in touch with reseller or manufacturer for repair as possible. Luckily its in barrels and not on polished lip. Often times acid based wheel cleaners sit in this area and can damage wheels in these areas if not washed off and preferably dried and coated.
Nah guys, these are newly chromed rims, driven on 4 times..
Only use Z7 car wash soap on them & rinse fully with fresh water..
& Blow dry & use micro fibre towels only..

were they chromed by someone local or from the factory?
Can't tell from the pixs but it's appears to either be chrome pitting or some sort of debris on the surface, some times when they do not prep the surface correctly this type of damage will show up after a month or so, we used to see this from time to time when we would chrome plate parts for large machinery that we made, and it would show up after the machines were delivered to the customers several months later. Just a guess from the pics.
