Default Door hinge area

What is your method of cleaning the door hinge area. Specificially, the door and backside of front fender. Do you use a bendable brush of some sort or work your hands with microfiber towel in there? I have sort of large hands with long fingers so find it hard to get in there for a proper cleaning. Me thinks I need a tool of some sort.

Most of the time I just use a spray bottle with ONR, and then wipe it down with a MF towel.

For hard to reach cars (or in your situation), I use the Mini E-Z Detail Brush...invaluable tool for detailing!

Door Jambs

1.Use P21S Total Auto Wash, dilute the cleaner as necessary, using a damp micro fibre towel go over the door jamb.
2.Take a Swissvax Detail Brush and ensure that you have got into the corners, just lightly brush over it a couple of times.
3.Rinse it off using a wet microfiber towel, and dry thoroughly
4.Use a Carnauba wax or a spray polymer sealant Zanio Z-8 for protection
5.Repeat this process on the other side and carry on detailing the rest of your car
6.Check the hinge / latch lubrication, renew with silicone grease as necessary
7.Remove dust / dirt from the rubber sleeves and apply Iz einszett Vinyl-Rubber Care'
8.While you are doing this part of the job, also clean the area around the boot lid, hood and inside the fuel filler flap and access area.
9.Clean the water channels in the trunk as well as under the hood.

Don’t forget the door sills / kick plates; once clean and dry, they should be protected by applying a surface dressing to vinyl surfaces and either wax or sealant protection to painted surfaces

Thank you.

TSC17 I saw that brush on the Ferrari details pics and had a feeling it would be rec'd.

TOGWT. If I can't get my hands in there, how can I get in there to apply and wipe off a wax or sealant?

I'm going to see if I can find a kitchen drink glass sponge. I had one of those years ago. Wood handle with a round spound on the end, perfect for getting into tight areas without having a metal tip sticking out.

Wipe the area weekly with a quick detailer while washing/drying to reduce the need for special cleaning session. Use Klasse AIO to clean/protect the painted areas and Einszett Rubber Stick the for the rubbers. The detailing sticks (foam heads) from Edge work well also.

This is the area I'm referring to. I think I need smaller hands to get in behind the hinges and cable tunnel to apply and wipe.

Gotcha. Thanks. Am I the only one who greases/lubricates the hinges? When I bought the car (used) it had zero grease on the hinges, yet not a squeak and no roughness when opening or closing.

No I have not tried that yet. I did pick up a can of Tri-Flow at the local Harley shop a week ago. It's hard to come by, but is a great lube. It does not leave a build-up after any length of time. I first came across it at a gunsmith shop North of Memphis. I didn't realize at the time it was made in Memphis by the same people who bring you Formby's Furniture Care products. Not a fan of Formby's but they serve their intended purpose. Their Tri-Flow is tops, though. From what I recall it's invisible compared to white grease.

The original CLP was another great product but as with most things containing Teflon, it tends to settle out. The only proper way to apply Teflon is under extreme pressure with high heat.
