Guys I need just a quick opinion on something. I have a new car (G37) with less than 2K miles on it and I got a small rock chip on the hood just about 2 inches past the clearbra . I touched it up and it looks good but I have some small scratches in the area around it. These scratches are small and cant be felt (there is no way they are through the clear) only seen at a certain angle with the right lighting. I am a damn perfectionist with all my cars and want these scratches gone! I used some 3M 06068 by suggestion from my body guy. They got better but didn't come out. I also have used Blackfire polish and that worked about the same as the 3M. To the point......I am afraid of hitting this spot too hard or long with my PC and an Lake County orange pad! Should I turn it up to six and apply big time pressure or just work it longer? Or am I just being a pansy? Please advise. Thanks.
Mello03,
First, great choice in car! I too have an 2008 G37S in platinum graphite
This past weekend I used the flex on my vette with orange pad with great results. If you're not getting the scratches out by hand then you'll have to use a machine...its no big deal
One caution: I hear the 2009 has what they call a self healing paint...I don't have any idea what that is...and I've never used the buffer on the G because it doesn't need it. I believe if you proceed cautiously with the buffer you should be OK

Thanks, yeah mine is an 09 liquid platinum G37S and it really is a nice car for the money. I drove a lot of sports sedans when making my decision. The M's have the self healing paint I read so I don't think the G's got it. I will have to make sure.
Just to clear it up, have you already hit the area with your PC and orange lt. cutting pad?
Yeah, I did hit it with the PC and orange pad on 3 with very light pressure. The orange CCS-65PWR pad I have is from Classic Motoring Accessories but I think it is a light cutting pad.
I am on that site too. I was just looking over there and I guess all the 09's do have the self healing paint. I thought it was just the M's and FX but I guess not. My car has the scratch shield paint but I don't know if it is the something different than the self healing or not. I did see where that gel will glob up and come off if you use an aggressive pad and polish (most like likely with a rotary). I don't know if I will mess with it anymore until some more info comes out on this Infiniti paint. Oh well.
