Default Zanio QUESTION.......

Im going to use Zanio on my car for the first time. Im going to start with the Z-PC but what color pad should I use with the portal cable? Also after that Im going to use Z2 then Z5 with the zfx. How long do I wait in between coats and how many coats should I put on? Also, should I put the Z2,Z5 on by hand or portal cable? Should I use the Portal Cable to take it off?

I don't use a PC (I have a Flex) so I will leave the pad recommendation to someone that uses a PC.

After prep (Dawn, clay bar, car wash) and the finish is free of contaminates, start with the Z-PC using the PC and if you have any Z-AIO, you may want to finish the base prep with it.

Next, apply your Z-5 my hand (1/2 oz) with ZFX. Inspect the finish you may want to put a second layer of Z-5 if there are signs of very slight blemishes. I wait about 30 min. between layers of Z-5/Z-2. There should be a slight haze as the Z-5/Z-2 cures. Remember Zaino polishes/sealants are not like most other products, a small amount goes a long way. One mistake that most first time users make is applying toooo much.

Next, start applying the Z-2 (with ZFX), ½ oz per layer by hand. Put on as many layers as you need to achieve that depth and shine that you are looking for (I would put a minimum of two layer of Z-2). Use Z-6 between each layer of Z-5/Z-2. After your final layer of Z-2, finish it off with Z-8.

You do not need to use your PC to remove/buff off Zaino polishes, 100% cotton or heavy nap high quality MF towels will do the trick

P.S. I'm not a fan of Z-CS

You should only be using Z-PC if you are looking to correct swirls in your paint. Z-PC is abrasive and should only be used if necessary.

Assuming you have selected Z-PC for swirl correction, you might want to consider a wash and clay before hitting it with Z-PC. I would do one application with orange pad and second application with white pad. If you do not need swirl removal then I would suggest starting with Z-AIO as a base or move directly to your Z5 application.

I would suggest applying Z2 AFTER you apply the Z5.

Remember to apply polish(Z-PC or Z-AIO) with machine and protection (Z5, Z2 etc...) by hand.

Here is a sample 2 day marathon....

DAY 1
Wash with Z-7
Clay with Z-18
Wash with Z-7
Z-PC with orange pad (PC7424)
Z-PC with white pad (PC7424)
Wash with Z-7
Z-5 Pro w/ZFX (Hand with 100% cotton towel)
Z-6 (Hand with 100% cotton towel)
Z-5 Pro w/ZFX (Hand with 100% cotton towel)
Z-6 (Hand with 100% cotton towel)

DAY 2
Z-6 (Hand with 100% cotton towel) – Want to remove any dust etc.. that settled on car overnight.
Z-2 Pro w/ZFX (Hand with 100% cotton towel)
Z-CS (Hand with 100% cotton towel)
Z-8 ((Hand with 100% cotton towel)

MAINTENANCE (once a week)
Wash with Z-7
Z-8
Z-6 for quick detailing between washes

Hope that helps.

The standard advice is to start with the white pad and see if that accomplishes what you want.
The orange pad is more aggressive and you may need that.
Z5 w/zfx allows you to put 3 coats on in a 24 hr period. You can get 3 coats out of 1 oz. PUT IT ON THIN!
Follow with 2 or 3 Z2.
I would end with ZCS and top that off with Z8.
ZPC via machine, Z5/Z2 by hand, MF towels to remove.

This is good advice and very similar to what I suggested in my reply.

On a side note... I always seem to type Zaino as Zanio!! Glad to see I am not the only one!

I meant to add you should clay first, and no need for dawn.
So it's wash, clay, wash, polish, protect.
This is what I did earlier this year with my flex.

I'm going to slightly disagree with a few aspects of the Zaino process. I wash, clay bar, and then hit it with Z6....I don't see the need to re-wash the car. Additionally, before removing either the Z5 or Z2 spray the Z6 and remove one time as opposed to removing Z5 or Z2 and then misting Z6 and removing that as well.

There is no magic time for how long it takes for the Z5/Z2 to dry with or without ZFX. You just have to swipe the finish with a clean finger. If it exposes clean paint, its ready to come off; if it smears it has not yet cured and you'll have to wait a bit longer. Temperature and humidity will all affect the drying time.

Once your finish is clean........Keep it simple.
I just keep the car clean & covered when not in use.
I use very light coats of Zaino about once per month.
Z2 is all I use and the results are great.
IMHO, the Zaino "chemists" are a little overboard.

2-3 coats tops (between washes). Anymore than that and you are only wasting product.

I use my buffer to apply Z2/Z5. Black or grey pad. The softest one with NO cut. I find it saves me a bunch of time overall. Despite wasting a little product, I find it to be worth it.
