Clean/polish factory polished alum rims?
Hey guys, I've been doing lots of reading on here and getting lots of great tips.
However, I am still curious as to how best clean and or polish the factory aluminum rims on my 03 coupe. They are the polished aluminum thin spokers, and over time have developed fine scratches and a bit of a haze.
Now I am assuming that they are clear coated to keep them from oxidizing. So would I use a clear coat safe polish and wax? or use an aluminum polish? what about a chrome polish?

Yes, they are clearcoated.
Use a synthetic car wash or plastic polish for regular maintenance.
I like Mothers PowerPlastic on a PowerCone, or Scratch Remover if that doesn't work, followed by Plastic Polish for protection.
Apply a tire dressing or mask the tires first.

clearcoated OEM wheels must be treated with care, but just as you would your paint. Clean them well with a good wheel cleaner that is safe (P21S, Sonax, Griots). Then use any "paint" polishes or swirl removers. You can use a Mothers Powerball for extra buffing power as desired. Once done, coat with Poorboys or DP Wheel Sealant for protection. Its actually quite easy and results are often quite noticable.
If you also want to clean the inside barrels, consider a Daytona Brush as it makes easy work without removing wheels.
