Cloudy paint

I had some spots on my fender/hood that needed a little fixin. So, I hit it with ScratchX 2.0 and also Swirl X. I did this by hand and made it look better, but after buffing (by hand) and going over it with some detailer, the paint looks ever so lightly cloudy (or milky).

What have I failed to do or done incorrectly? I can't get it to show up in a pic.

You scratched the clear coat which created the haze. Find someone with a buffer and they can fix it in a couple of minutes.
