bought the car in the late fall, and just got around to cleaning the leather seats on my 94 coupe. leather is in good shape, but looked like it needed cleaned and conditioned.
bought some zaino z9 to use for cleaning.
as i got into it, i was surprised that, to me, what was coming off the seats, was exactly like stripping or peeling off a thin coat of black, latex paint.
seats look great, after cleaning, and some z10 conditioner, but interested to know if anybody has any idea what might have been on the seats?
never experienced anything like it on leather.
thanks.
Its hard to guess ... most leather used in cars is coated but doesnt really have much of a coloring on the top level. Perhaps the owner had an area dyed due to discoloration ?? Just be careful you dont see the color transfer to a nice pair of slacks.

Zaino Z9 is a very safe cleaner. It sounds to me like your seats have been 're-dyed' using a cheap dye which is now flaking off. This is common with cheap re-dyes.
