My son works at a dealership. A sales guy comes in pushing this polish, says it's the ut most. He demonstrated it on a new car, after it's applied he spray paints a word on the car and it wipes right off. So my son rushes over and gives me a bottle to try on my car. Well, tonight against my better judgement I tried the whiz. First off it's clear and smells like solvent. I applied it to the top first and let it haze dry and attempted to wipe it off. It left smear marks where I applied it. I tried using it to clean itself off but no luck. I just washed the car with Dawn dish soap to try and get it off. That didn't work. As soon as it dries I'm trying Zaino swirl cleaner to try and remove it.
Its a paint sealant, not even the newer coating systems (Aquartz, Opti-coat), and offers very similar outcome to your favorite synthetic wax. It often comes with a huge markup if applied at dealership and a warranty. If you measure the warranty its often about what is offered with new paint warranties which is a much greater protection against UV than any sealant can offer. If you like it use it, but dont expect any miracles. If you are looking for something with longer protection consider the newer coating systems as most truly offer a year or more protection from a single application.
I started with a buffer and cotton-loop pad. It removed the smeary haze but was slow going. I had a gallon of grease & wax remover so I tried a spot and it takes it off quicker. It comes off slimy feeling. The rag fills up with this slime so I had to flip it around a lot as I went.
I bought my car from the original buyer and he used it for car shows only. The car only had 9K miles on it and had never seen rain and was kept inside a manufacturing plant inside his office. The paint was very well maintained and is very bright white. The clear-coat is in excellent condition, no rock chips on the nose or any such damage. When buying the car, we did discuss his care products but I didn't write anything down and the drive across country erased most of my memory of our discussion. My point is: this product must have reacted to the wax layers already on the paint. It was a terrible experience seeing this "reaction" and not being able to wipe it off or wash it off.
