ok I was working on my 'rents car and they asked me to get rid of some scratches on it. So I tried some rubbing compound, and it has left a couple dull spots. I have tried a clay bar and Z5 but to no avail. What do you think I need to do.
It depends on what type of compound you used. If it was a fairly harsh compound trying using the product that is one step less abrasive than the one you used. I would need to know which product you used on what type of paint to come up with a more detailed solution.
I used turtle wax (I know it sucks) cant remeber the name but it is their harsher of the two compounds. I picked up some blue coral swirl/scratch remover and that has gotten out most of it. But there is still a slight haze there. This is on a BMW w/ stock metallic pain if that helps.
I would try some 3M 39009 by hand. that should get most of the marks out. Once you have done this, wash the area with liquid Dawn and then re-apply a few coats of the Z5 that you used earlier.
ok since the auto parts store did not carry 3M I picked up some blue coral scratch remover. Seemed to get most of it out, now there is only some hazing and small scratches left. Seems like the compound causes tons of small scratches to the finish. How much will it hurt if I continue to put on this scratch remover?
