Friend just bought a new Impala that this stuff, Zaktek, had already been applied to (and for which she was charged). It is apparently some type of paint sealant? She gets new application every 6 months for 3 years w/o additional cost. Anyone know anything about this stuff?
Most dealers off a paint protection system which is indeed little more than a paint sealant and a warranty that matches your new paint warranty. Add in the very high cost upfront for such little product and time and its no wonder they offer additional coats two times a year. Save the $$$ and do it yourself or pay for a qualified professional detailer.

The upfront cost that she already paid included re-application every 6 months for 3 years without any additional cost. I've already convinced her to certainly never pay another cent for it. My question is whether it is even worth the time to have them do the already paid for re-applications.
6 more applications at n/c......scary to think what she paid up front. $600?
Part of the protection package (door edge guards, etc.......) this dealer installs on all new cars bought for dealer stock (as opposed to cars built to order) so separate price not specified. Remember undercoating from the movie "Fargo"?
Its all high cost for little to no real outlay on the dealers part, you should never pay for any of these prep fee's or detailing fee's in any new car purchase. If they dont remove it then shop their competitor.
