Default Detailing help

Hi everyone. I just bought a complete exterior kit from autogeek. I got the flex dap, several different pads and a blackfire exterior kit. I also got the wolfgang total swirl remover. The car is an 86 so it had a good amount of swirls. I started with the yellow pad. The paint came out great! Next I went to an orange pad and used the blackfire gloss enhancing polish. This is where I run into problems. When i'm done with a section, I wipe it off and in some spots there appears to be residue that will not wipe off. I've tried a white pad, and different speeds but I still get the occasional residue. If I go over it again with the swirl remover it goes away.

What am I doing wrong with the polish?

Thanks!

Scott

It sounds like the the product is not completely mixed. Often times polishes need to be shaked quite well and for a bit of time to make sure all the components are mixed well. If you still have a problem after reshaking it and trying again, please let us know for replacement.

If you need to remove stubborn dried polish on the paint, try a very soft and lightly dampened towel.

Oh so what im seeing is possibly dried product? Hmmm, didn't realize it dried that quickly. I'll also try shaking it. I don't believe I did that very well if at all. I won't be able to get to it till sunday or monday but i'll keep you updated.

Thanks for the info!

1st pass - agressive
2nd pass - Finish; not so agressive
Orange is an agressive pad.
Try another color/softer pad w/gloss enh.pol.
White, black & Blue i believe are less agressive than orange.
I think you were correct to start w/ yellow as that is more agressive than orange.
I use orange w/ 105 or SIP.
I could be wrong and await correction if necessary
Good luck & enjoy your new toys
Mark

I tried what you said, shook the bottle very well and it seemed to got worse. I did use a gray finishing pad this time. There was a lot more haze. Going back over it again with the wolfgang total swirl remover 3.0 took care of it. I went from that straight to the blackfire midnight sun wax.

What else would you recommend other than that blackfire gloss enhancing polish to use in between the swirl remover and wax?

Thank you!

for a finishing polish I often suggest Menzerna 085rd.
