I went to a detail shop last week, and the guy looked at my vette(08) and he said that it needed a Acid Bath before he could buff & wax.I have never heard of this acid bath.Is it safe on the paint?? Thanks for any input before i let him do it....
I have never heard of that. The name in itself sounds pretty scary.
Never heard of that either. I would suggest going elsewhere.

They (AG) have a forum titled "Auto Detailing 101" . If you haven't already been there, check it out. Lots of good information, and a great bunch of people to help with detailing issues.
He could simply be referring to a paint decontamination product such as CarPro Iron-X. I could see how some would called that an acid-bath. It is safe for the paint and removes contaminates (like clay bar) and is a common step before paint correction.
In my shop we will acid bath cars with heavy water spots. We use a very mild acid made specifically for auto paint. While a popular idea, a clay bar will not remove heavily bonded water spots.

That's what i have all over my car Water Spots #3.I have tried vinegar, with no luck & i also tried a clay bar did not work.So i guess i will have them do it if you say it is safe...
