A clay bar will strip all the gold class, you may have applied gold class 7 times but you don't have 7 coats of it, remember gold class is a cleaner wax, with each coat you will strip off the prior.
I'm facing this situation right now. The nose of my car got hit with city water sprinklers while I was at work and baked in the sun all afternoon before I realized it. So far, clay bar is not removing them completely. What's the next step? I don't want to give up and just Z5 over them, then I might ever get them out.
I am in the same boat with my wife's black Maxima. This afternoon I am picking up my 16 oz. bottle of 3M #39009 Perfect It Swirl Mark Remover and have my fingers crossed that it will work on water spots as CF members suggest. Note that 3M #39109 is available for light colored cars.
When shopping for this product Portland was almost a lost cause. Finally I located an industrial finish outlet that ordered the product for me for $10.
Gold Class won't build up coats, I checked with Meguiar's. They say anything more than a second coat to make sure you've covered everything won't help- except, of course, after time passes and some of the wax goes bye-bye.
Go easy on the swirl remover, anything that removes swirls can cause them. Let the product do the work, and follow the directions. Good luck.
I tried white vinegar after all of the suggestions I've seen on the Forum. The windows on my wife's car were heavily covered with hard water spots. Vinegar just didn't take them off and Glass Wax Liquid didn't either. What worked on first application was the Zaino glass polish/cleaner.
Cool. I have not thought of Z-12 yet! I was at the end of my rope and was considering 3M swirl remover as a last resort. I worked on mine for half the day yesterday starting with vinegar (did nothing) and then moved to the strongest thing I had which was Auto Magic bug and tar remover (also did nothing). I will try Z-12 tonight. Is there any different application method from glass to paint?
Just read the directions on the back of the Z-12 bottle and says "not for use on coated glass, painted or plastic surfaces," and you guys had no problems? Thanks.
