Engine Cleaning
Sorry for having 2 topics..I just remembered this question. A friend of mine says to keep the engine clean, when it's cold, spray windex all over the engine, fire it up for 10 minutes with the hood closed, give it 30 to 45 mins to cool back down, then rinse. Any thoughts or agreements, or better ways to keep the baby clean?

That does not sound like a good idea, hosing down the engine with all those electronic computer parts subject to getting wet. I wipe the dust off with a damp cloth and vacuum (with shop vac) hard to reach areas using a small attachment kit I bought at Home Depot. Then I use plastic polish like Meguiars Gel to put some gloss on the plastic areas.

Well, that's not my method of choice. I'd be apprehensive in regard to taking running water to the engine as you describe. Personally I use damp (with water) cloths, medical swabs, and a shop-vac with microattachments for a few areas around the suspension. I prefer 303 Aerospace Protectant for the hoses, wheelwell liners, plastics, etc.
