Default X-Pel?

Anyone had X-PEL 3m installed on their car for paint protection from rock chips/bugs? I would like to know how INVISIBLE it really is and how well it does protect your paint from rock chips. Also, has anyone removed this film after a number of years and what condition is the paint in after adhesive removal? Thanks!

I personally would never put those on my car. I would feel that they would oxidize quicker or slower than the rest of my car, as it would be impossible to put a coat of polish/wax on them (and im sure that a clear plastic piece waxed doesnt last as long as paint).

IMHO, just get some very nice looking mud flaps. It basically does the same thing, keeps your car cleaner, and looks pretty cool actually.

 ,
Andy

I was talking about protection on the nose, hood, rocker panels, wheel openings and behind each wheel! From the people I have talked to on other forums, I think X-pel is the way to go. Other suppliers of the same material[3m scotchcal] such as stongard, clearbra, etc are also good but it seems that X-pel cuts their patterns out more efficiently for better coverage. I think more importantly is the person who is installing it and I would not trust myself!! Thanks!

I've had it about 1 1/2 years on my front bumper. Not invisible, but very hard to notice. You can definitely see it if you're looking for it, but it's a lot less noticeable than a traditional bra.

The color looks the same under the bra. In fact, you can wax the material.
What I really like about it is that nothing gets behind it (i.e. sand, dirt)-like a regular bra.

Don't get me wrong, I bought a GM bra and really had a good experience with it. I just removed it everytime to inspect it for dirt/sand.
