Good day everyone. I have a relatively simple question. What are you guys using to clean the interior of your cars, primarily the door panels, dash, etc that are not leather.
I want to have a good cleaner to remove any dust, dirt, etc when I wash my car. I am not looking for anything to make it "shinny". Just want to clean it.
This would be for my 2016 C7 Z06 2LZ.
I would also love to hear how people clean their leather.
Currently, I just use a damp rag but curious if there are products that give a better result.
I just use distilled water and a 300 GSM microfiber towel. If there are stains in carpet or other dirt I use Meguiar's All-Purpose cleaner diluted 10:1 with distilled water.
I use 303 multi purpose cleaner on the hard surfaces of my C5. You need to decide what to use to protect. 303 also makes a protector but it does leave a gloss finish. I use Chemical guys satin protector leaves less of a sheen.
On the leather I use Sonax premier cleaner. It is a water based foam. Followed by the Sonax conditioner. You can find kits at most of the major online sites. I like that it is water vs. petroleum based. I also like the foam as it gets into the nooks and crannies better then most traditional products. For ongoing maintenance I wipe down with distilled water once a week.
Pretty sure the OP cleaned his interior 2 years ago. But, yes, if you want to prematurely wear away the protective coating from your leather, use a Magic Eraser. If you want to safely clean your leather without abrading away the coating, use proper soft-bristled leather cleaning brushes and microfiber towels. Also, grained interior plastics and vinyls are what you don't want to use a Magic Eraser on. Good info in Scott's video below:
