Default How long to wait to wash and wax after paint?

I just had the tailgate painted on my Tundra and am unsure how long to wait before washing it and then how long to wait before waxing it?

I would give it a week to cure and harden well.

I'd give it 60-90 days. Call the shop that did the paint for their recommendations.

Depends if it was heat cured at the shop or if they are letting it cure naturally.

If heat baked and cured you're good to go now but if natural cure I'd give it 10 days. Most shops will tell you 30 days though.

I would definitely call the shop and ask them.

It does take some time for the all of the curing to take place which includes the chemical release of any gases in the paint and clear as it cures. You'll want that process to occur naturally and not trap those gases under any sealant or wax or the clear coat could cloud up.

I know the urge is there to protect the paint but you don't want to do it all over agin.

The old rule of thumb was 90 days.

When I had my car repaired they finished off with a glaze and told me to wait a week for waxing
