Default How to get rid of ugly spots from inside the wheel?

My wheels have developed these bad ugly spots inside them, I asked a friend he said it's moisture deposits and I should try to scrub them with steel wool? (assuming my hand can get in between the spokes of my wheels, and also the calipers, not much space in there)

Any of you guys seen this?

I tried to scrub them with my microfiber towl and car wash, but zero luck, I threw away the towel after.

Hard to provide any suggestions when there are no pictures that show what you are talking about.

I will assume you are talking about pitting on the inside barrel of an aluminum wheel. I have tried a number of products including aluminum brightener with no success. I do know not to use steel wool as it leaves behind particles that will rust. I understand brass wool is better but I have not used this. I have used Scotch Brite that does not remove the pits. From what I have seen on the Forum the only way to remove the pits is to take off the wheel and polish them away with an abrasive machine polish process.

I think hes talking abput particles from the brake pads. No easy way to get around this the wheel has to come of and a taking down of the spots with sandpaper is what got mine off...It will happen again.

Does sound like brake deposits. I would suggest trying Gyeon Iron (its a spray designed to remove embedded brake duat deposits from wheels Its roughly $20/bottle and available from autogeek.com and other auto detailing supply websites. One word of caution.....it has an extremely unpleasant smell. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle.

Is this stuff strong enough to remove pits like seen on the attachment? Gyeon Iron appears to be similar to Adams Wheel Cleaner that also turns red and stinks.

Nothing will remove pitting. That is metal corrosion.

All wheel cleaners formulated to remove iron fallout smell like Satan's armpit. The Adam's version actually smells better than most. The Kenotek and the BDP that I use will make you gag.
