Default Flat/semi painted plastic under the hatch c6z?

Anyone find a product that would just make this look nice, even, not glossy but just dress it up a bit? Thanks.

It's painted flat/semi gloss plastic so far as I can tell. Some under the hood too.

What about some of the products that are designed for matte finish paint surfaces, you could call the manufacturers & let them know what your needs are. Maybe just a rinseless wash product, I know some have wax in them so not sure how that would affect the semi gloss finish. Or call a semi gloss paint manufacturer & see what they recommend for their semi gloss paints.

If you are talking plastic only pcs that aren't painted, I know Meguiars makes a water base detailer that you mix to your desired sheen, there may be others available as well. Griots has an interior detailer that is low gloss.

I just wipe mine down with Meguiar's X-Press spray wax sprayed on a microfiber towel, or you can use Meguiar's Hyper Dressing diluted with distilled water, diluted to the sheen you like.

Thanks, I tried some waxes but not really liking the look, splotchy.
I'll use some DAWN and get it off & try again.

There is really no need to use Dawn. Just use a good All-Purpose automotive cleaner. That's all I've ever used

Can you post a pic of the hatch black structure?

I use Protectant 303 on such surfaces. It is a quality product.

That's a coincidence, I have some 303 that I used on the leather seats and it totally killed the leather smell. Trying to get the small back now. Hope it's better on plastic.

The paint used on the rear hatch is the worst stuff I have ever seen. It cannot be spot painted, cannot be cleaned with anything stronger than Dawn and water. If you try to use anything with a thinner base like alcohol, Goo Gone, some paint thinners, lacquer thinner or such the black will come off, never try any of these. I have used 303, Megs Back to Black, various waxes, nothing works very well. Megs Back to black used with a DA polisher seems to work the best for me, still not great. I have seen the hatch stripped and painted car color or black which would be the best if you want to spent the time and money. I hate this part of the car.

Well, thanks for that, I will stop beating a dead horse & just live with it.

Best so far for me is 303 but that's on top of others, may strip with dawn & reapply.

Aside from repetitive application requires to maintain a decent appearance, I stay away from water/solvent base products due to out gassing residual film deposit and visible on interior glass, which requires frequent cleaning. That maintenance process proven to be an unending task!

Few years(5?) ago, I used Gtechniq C4 on hatch, but 4 months ago, since I was re-doing my ceramic exterior coating, I stripped and use Kamakazi ISM on hatch as well as all plastic/rubber interior/exterior trim.

IMO, no better semi permanent and relative maintenance free product for use to encapsulate exterior/interior plastic/rubber trim. Damp MF wipe down is all I very seldom need on coated interior surface.

Ceramic coating has relieved me from once a time consuming process of making a car look good.

I used some of Adams aerosol In and Out spray. Just use a light even coat. Looks great. If you get to heavy with the spray it will run so use a couple of light coats.

used this product when I had by C6 coupe...…………. also if it "runs" from too heavy an application, you can use a foam applicator to even it out as long as you use it on the whole panel.

IF I still had a coupe, I would have applied ceramic coating to keep it looking great.
