Default PPF vs ceramic coating

Hi everyone,

I just ordered my first corvette, 2LT elkhart blue stingray.
Was curious if PPF or ceramic coating is the better way to go?
I'm not sure which one is more expensive or lasts longer either.
Any recommendations from those who have done both?

I'll be driving the car most of the year but mostly in good weather. I'm from NJ, so, definitely not when it snows.

"Better" depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you just want to protect your finish in the same manner as waxes and sealants do, then just go with a ceramic coating. If you want to help protect your finish against physical damage such as rock chips and scratches, then PPF is what you want. Ultimately, your best protection would be to install a PPF and then have the entire car ceramic coated.

Yeah, in NJ my concern is rock chips and other ways for the car to be scratched, so it sounds like PPF may be the best way to go.
Thanks for replying!

I'd go with the film if I had the money to outlay after the downpayment I put in, but I don't, so I will ceramic coat it myself.

If the whole car is filmed, that will be more expensive. Could be $5K easy. If only parts like the mirrors, hood and nose, then $1500 or so, depending on where you are.

If you have it coated as soon as you receive it, then the paint correction step would be minimal and you could come out cheaper by a large margin.

Comparing stone chips with other owners recently...... We all had chips in our clear bra's regardless of manufacturer. Still better then no protection at all. We'd all do it again with no complaints. Thinking a ceramic coating will prevent a paint chip at 70 mph on the highway is true optimism.
