I was amazed to find out this is the best stuff I have ever used for cleaning windows inside and out. I was pretty leery at first to try it but did it on one of my other cars fearing that it was going to smear rather than clean. But no. I couldn't believe how easy and quick it was to use on my Vette windows inside and out.
I have used Sprayway for years, as that was the best I had ever used. But Bead Maker just blows it away.
Bead Maker does a great job, smells good, and helps keep the inside of the windows from fogging easily. Most quick detail sprays work well too. It really is the type of towel and your method that makes the most difference.
Not only Bead Maker but Adams waterless wash and their pink detail spray. Like Fyrarms says it's all in the towel and method, found this out through trial and error.
I find with Beadmaker a heavier "plush" Microfiber works best
Speaking of plush, I have become totally addicted to the new TRC Eagle Edgeless 600 towels. Not just the 600gsm weight, but the softness. I always use a two-towel method when applying spray products. A short-nap low-weight towel for spreading stuff out, and a plush towel for buffing. I already have a bunch of the great Eagle 500s, but the 600s are just nicer. I highly recommend trying a couple the next time The Rag Company or Autogeek has a sale. I want to make pillow cases out of these things.

I like these. Especially on the rear fascia they pucker right into all the nooks and creases.

Ok I’ll ask, what is the optimal towel and method for best results?
I’ve just been using Windex wipes which work ok but could use some improvement.
Also any recommendations for the window exterior? Something to help get the bugs and gunk off easier?

Skip the wipes, as they just kind of smear. The key to clear windows is the "dry wipe". Use two towels. A very short-pile cloth for applying glass cleaner and wiping the glass clean (look up "waffle weave glass towels"), then, dry buff the windows clear with a second microfiber towel. The type of glass cleaner you use isn't very important.
For bug splatter on windshields, I just pre-soak them with a blast of glass cleaner in most cases. Let them soak a bit before wiping the glass.
