Default Do I need a cover?

I'm purchasing a 2011 GS with 12k miles tomorrow and the seller is offering a fleece lined Cover King for $100. Car will be parked in our oversized 3 car garage with no dogs, kids etc running around. Car will not be a daily driver but I suspect I'll drive it 1-2 times a week. I'm feeling like the cover is a great deal but I don't think I will use it much. I've never used a cover and think it might be a hassel but it sure looks like a nice one.

I appreciate any feedback.

Below is a pic of the cover (and my soon to be car).

I'd skip the cover; the dust and dirt that may settle on paint in the garage is preferable to the light marring putting the cover on and off may cause.

If you go yoga pants stretchy indoor cover it will never mar paint.. been using one for years and will protect from minor dustings that regularly occur in a garage Easy on and off no seams no tags no marring

Get a cover. If the cover is soft it will not scratch the car. Most garages will accumulate dust on your car.

I use covers when I store them for 6+ months at a time. My wife's car sits for the same period of time uncovered and collects very little dust.

I appreciate the responses. Seems this is as controversial as the last election, LOL. Due to the $100 price on the $250-$300 cover I'm going to get it.

I use the same type of satin stretch cover. I use it when the car is going to sit for more than a few weeks whether that is due to weather or my schedule. I will always wipe the car down with a my Uber spray or blue elixir prior to putting the cover on. No matter how soft the cover is, if there are fine particles on the paint surface it can scratch when putting cover on or taking it off.

Something else to consider is the amount of dust/dirt in the cover. This eventually filters through to the inside. Also depends on how clean the car is with each use. Don't know if these are washable, especially in a home washer.

Been debated a bunch in the C2 forum. Mine’s covered all the time to protect it from me.... lawn tools, equipment, visitor traffic. Not dust. Don’t drag across, but lift and roll towards the windshield from both ends.

If its not a DD or driven regular , I would get it for the c note. As you already know if you leave a car in your garage, with the garage door open alot- your car WILL get dirty
You will need to remove it once every month or two and give it a good shaking out and wash it once a year

I’ve always had mine covered with no ill effects. For $100 bucks, I’d buy it.

I bought the car..... and the cover. After seeing the condition of the car, I'm convinced that the cover isn't harmful because the 10 year old car with 12K miles looks brand new. I appreciate all the feedback on this. I will use the cover with great care when I do.

Default Car Cover - Forgetting Stuff Inside

Without a cover, what would I have to do after washing my car, covering it, and then forgetting something inside. This last weekend, I actually had to uncover and sneak inside TWICE. I'm pretty sure I'm losing it!

If your car is regularly parked anywhere for more than a couple days at a time, indoor or outdoor, then I fully recommend a cover. Heck, I dislike leaving it parked outside all day, period. It happens. Researching the right cover for your needs is important and can be handled in 5 YouTube-filled lunch hours, or less. Jim "Corvette" Conti even has a video about how to properly uncover your car and store your cover. It's a great habit that I started day 1.

I live in a "concrete jungle" condo with subterranean parking. My weekend runner would get (gets?) plenty dusty if left uncovered. I still don't understand why my neighbor doesn't cover his Bentley GT and S500. Why would I want to roll in a dirty car when I have another option? Given my situation, I opted for a Cover King Indoor/Outdoor cover, and it's been great for more than 2 years. They're tailored to your model, and you can even choose 2-tone colors that look pretty cool. It took about a month to arrive, which makes me think they made it just for me! It's like the softest windbreaker/parachute material on the inside, and a little more rugged canvas on the outside. Just handle it gingerly when it's on the car (roll it gently toward the nose). It can be washed with a garden hose and dried in the sun. Now for the "fun part:" If you're like me, you'll never, EVER want to put a cover on even a semi-dirty car. It's like putting on dirty underwear....on your car (ahem)...not that I have any experience with that. See you almost every Sunday evening at the "pay n spray!"

I use mine all the time. Only takes 3 minutes to put on or less to take off.

The secret is getting a washer and dryer with an extra large tub! Two or three washers ago, i told the salesman, I wanted a washer I could put a car cover in. He told me I needed to get an extra large tub. I did that and have been washing them ever since. Delicate wash and dry.
