Default Cleaning engine bay

I have seen several how-to posts here describing how to use Simple Green to clean up the engine bay. I have also read that Simple Green can cause corrosion to aluminum.

I'd like to cleanup my bay.. Is it better to use Simple Green, or a solution specifically for engine cleaning? Any advise/experiences are welcome.

Zymol's strik. It is safe on paint and aluminum.
http://www.zymol.com/strik.htm. It is somewhat expensive, but comes in a concentrate form. You can vary the dillution ratios depending on the level of de-greasing needing to be done. To get into some hard to reach places you can spray the product in there and use a long handle paint brush to gently aggitate it.

There are plenty of stronger engine cleaners out there but like you said there is aluminum under your hood, but there is plenty of paint as well so careful with your product selection.

Additionally, use a thick freezer bag and a brand new rubber band to seal off all sensitive components under the hood.

An alternative product is Griot's Garage Oil & Grease Cleaner ( http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....1001&SKU=11128 ). I don't know how safe it is on paint. I am sure you can call them about that at: 1-800-345-5789

You're welcome. I just spoke with Griot's and they say that their product is not safe on paint.
