how do i get rid of it? I have noticed that many forum members have had their manifolds bead blasted, does this make them shiny? Shinyness is my goal and i have a rotary tool at home, i just need to know what products/chemicals or methods will remove the oxidization and allow me to polish the manifold, leaving a shine.

Re: Oxidization (battsup)
Which are you meaning exhaust or intake manifold and is it aluminum or steel?
Yes if it is:
Aluminum intake you should be able to get a halfway decent shine with a bit of work after the media blasting. Then the finer the sand paper the better the shine followed by metal polish. If you can find a clear engine paint that can withstand the heat of the engine you can keep it that way.
No to most exhaust types but you have them powder coated.
If it is steel like cast iron in can shine but to hold the shine you'd have to powder coat it. If you're looking for a chrome type shine it is not going to happen.

Re: Oxidization (battsup)
Ok, no guarantee on the polish looked from E because of the time and effort required, plus they probably put some coat over them to keep it shinny.
So follow the process I stated earlier: Get them media blasted and then gradually work to a very fine sand paper, then go to a metal polish. You will probably want to get them coated (clear powder or very heat-resistive paint).
