Default Bug marks

What is the best thing to use to get rid of those pesky bug marks. I bought my '00 in January, and there are a number of marks that are lingering on the car that won't come off the front. What can I do to remove these?

First thing I would try is a clay bar. If that doesn't work then your paint may be etched.

:iagree:

If it is etched, you need to use an abrasive. :(

Get an at least 10X magnifier and look closely at them.

You may find that the acids in the bugs have eaten the through the clear.

If not, try soaking them with your all purpose, don't allow it to dry.

A few minutes of soaking will either remove them or loosen them if the spots are residue and not eaten away.

This won't help now, but once you get it clean...

One thing I do is whenever I get home at night, or the next morning at the latest is use a quick detailing spray and wipe off any bugs before they have a chance to get really stuck. They come off pretty easy if they haven't been on there long. Good luck

It is also important to keep as much protection as possible on the area where bugs can come in contact with the surface. I like to add a coat of Z2 to the side mirror housings and nose of the car each time I wash. Also keep some detailing spray and a clean towel handy to remove the bugs as soon as you notice them. This won't help your current condition, but it is food for thought.
