If they burned the clearcoat I would bring it to a reputable body or Corvette shop as it is quite a bit of work to repair that. If the detailer is a reputable shop and they don't help, bring it up with the Chamber of Commerce of Better Business Bureau. If it was just a person detailing it "on the side" you will probably be out of luck.

I'd contact GM on the net and complain like hell. Don't let them get away with this. Get in their face till they do something about it. Complaints to GM do get results for they are evaluating all dealers for their performance because they want to be direct competition with Mercedez and the like. Cars on a whole are getting pretty expensive and to loose a customer is a big thing these days. And the old rule of thumb that for every customer there is a possible 250 more behind him if you can get word of mouth happening. So do your stuff and don't take that @#$@$ any more. Good luck.

I think he meant he took it to a Detail Shop, not a Dealer. If that was done by a Dealer's body shop, they would most definatly cover the repair and would most likely fix it before they call to tell you that it is ready.

If it is just an edge try touching it up by hand and polishing/Blend it by hand carefully. If its a larger area you will have to have a body shop re-clear the panel.

Post a PIC. I have been able to repair paint before by wet sanding and polishing out that detail shop's have said were burnt. Was the detail shop working on some scratches in the area of the now burnt paint?
PS What does the burnt area look like? Is it dull and white looking with a hal look on the edges?

Re: Detailer burned my clear coat (WILDONETHIRTYSEVEN)
OK This was done at a detail shop the funny part is it is only on the back of the car. It looks like he used the edge of the wheel while trying to buff out the car. There are a bunch of 1 to 2 inch marks up and down the back of the rear of the car and that is the only place. It looks like a dull white mark from the wheel of a polisher-- so what do you guys think? I have a digital camera and can down load the pictues but do not know how to link it to the site. Any help would be graetly appreciated. thanks

By the description you gave it sounds like the materiel that the wool is attached to on the buffing pad hit your paint and burned or scratched it. This usually occurs when using a worn out wool buffing pad. Call around and find detail shop or paint shop that specializes in wet sanding and polishing of clear coat. If the scratches or burnt area is not to deep in the clear they should come out. You need a specialist.
