Would like to know how others clean their engines. A little afraid to just take it to the car wash and spray with the hose. Is this simply how most do it? Is it ok to do that? Suggestion much appreciated
hmmmm well i usally put my vaccum cleaner into it and suck up all the sand it has in it from me going to the beach. but besides that i really don't know beside just amoral for the plastics inside. Washing it with water would scare me.
I just cleaned my engine today as a matter of fact. I did the vacuuming part in all the crevices. I took off the hood liner and gave it a vacuuming as well. While it was off I wiped down the inner hood with a damp microtowel. Shined it with some mothers protectant after. My engine wasnt bad. Most of the dirt came off with just hose water. Cover your battery and wires when your wetting the engine. To clean mine i used Griots Garage Engine Cleaner Kit. It comes with 4 brushes, engine cleaner, and engine gloss. I worked in small areas apraying the cleaner and agitating with a soft brush. After the entire engine was done I started the car and dried it. Let the car run for about 10-15...this will aid in the drying. Once it was dry I sprayed the engine gloss on the black parts, hoses, and colored wires. I am telling you that the engine compartment looked factory fresh and I am not exaggerating. Some parts I used a wipe to shine up, but mostly I used the gloss. It was worth the money for the kit. You can go to griotsgarage.com to purchase and view their other products. Try it and you wont be dissappointed!!!! :chevy
