Default Layering

This applies particularly to my DD, but can apply to just about any. The color is a Dark Red Metallic.

I've read alot about layering a synthetic under a carnuba wax. Well, after proper preparation of my paint (wash, clay bar, polish) I put down Meguiars NXT. I followed up with Meguiars Gold Class wax 12 hours later. I don't really see a difference. It looks good, but after doing 1/2 my hood, I could not see a difference between the two sides.

Suggestions? Comments?

I've layed carnaubas over polymers, usually P21S or Pinnacle Souveran over Zaino, NXT, Race Glaze, or Mothers Reflections. It's all subjective. I've never noticed any difference in shine the carnauba is certainly less durable if that is an issue. I do it for fun, something different. Also, if you check the tackiness of the carnauba side versus polymer, the carnauba side will feel tackier and collect dust more. Do what works for you even if you don't see a difference.

the reason that "some" do the layering of a carnuba over a sealant, is to get the durability (length of protection) from the sealant and the oils from a carnuba (depth).

Difference is usually noticable in that most sealants are very reflective but somewhat plastic looking, and carnubas are wetter looking and natural. (think of a silk plants leaves versus a live plants leaves)

Gold Class is not a pure carnuba!! It's a blend and is mostly synthetic (polymers) ingredients. All you were really doing was layering two different types of polymers on top of each other. Try layering #26 paste wax over the NXT if you want to stay in the Meg's line. I am confident you will notice a difference with that combo.

Also, to layer you can not be using a cleaner wax on top of what is already there....
