Default Porter Cable Question

I bought my PC after reading all the posts about the terrific job it does. Went to Lowe's and bought the tool ($109.00). Hunted for an auto paints store to buy the velcro backing plate and pads etc. (another $50 bucks)
I'm getting excited I brought it home and plugged it in to make sure it works OK. (I haven't yet put it on the car). Anyway the pad seems to just vibrate, isn't it supposed to rotate (like a grinder)?

Vettman 1 the PC is not a direct drive tool like a rotary...it's a dual action piece which means that it spins AND orbits at the same time. So yes, the pads will appear to "vibrate".

ThanksI I had an air driven DA sander that could be used by either locking the oprital action out so the backing plate would spin like a grinder or orbital. I guess I thought these worked the same way. I'll give it a whirl today anad see what all the excitement's about.
