Default Zaino problem

Hello
Got a new 04 CE Coupe. Washed the car with dawn 3 times to get all the dealer wax off. applied 2 coats of Z5 got rid of the few deler swirls then I applied a couple of coats of Z1 with the accelerator. Now if you touch the car you leave something like a smear mark and finger prints galore! seems like the Zaino is not curing or getting hardened, I emailed Zaino last week but no one replied so if anyone out there knows what I am doing wrong please let me know
Thanks
Tom

These type questions are best asked in the Car Care Products section of the Forum. Several knowledgeable people hang out there and they should be able to answer your questions. Good luck.

just IMO, but I think you used a lil to much. I would have clayed the car before hand as well.

I hope you meant Z-2 and not Z-1 as Z-1 is a polish lock.

You are going about the Zaino process all wrong.

First off. The Z1 is made to go UNDER the Z5.

Also, the when you mention accelrator I am imaginging you are talking about the ZFX, correct?

The ZFX is to be added (mixed into) your Z5 or Z2 and eliminate the use of Z1 altogether.

Here is how Z1 and Z5 are to be applied.
1) Dawn wash to start off clean
2) A layer of Z1
3) A layer of Z5 (or Z2) which ever you prefer.
4) Top that off with Z6 spray and wipe

Here is how ZFX and Zaino are applied.
1) Dawn wash to start off clean
2) Mix your one ounce of Z2 (or Z5) with 4 drops of ZFX
3) Apply that mixture to the car.
4) Top that off with Z6 spray and wipe
5) Repeat 3 & 4 as many times as you please

If it leaves marks, you are using too much of the Zaino. It only takes a little tiny bit. Try using less product.

Take care,

Definitely sounds like you used too much and applying back to back applying too much compounds the problem. But applying it THIN is what almost every newbie has problems with. With a little practice you should be able to do an entire application with only 1/4 ounce of polish.

Switch to "Liquid Glass Polish" I have been using it since 1979 and my car still beads water every time and shines. It doesn't require you to remove the protectants you paid for in your paint cause as you know todays paints are much better than before. Liquid Glass Polish removes small scratches and protects again Ultra Violet rays. The more applications the more protection. After buffing it in leave your car in the sun so the polish can bake into your paint and if you have no sun the curing process is 4 hours. Then You won't have to even though it is too late remove protectants from your paint and use all of these different abcdefg bottles that cost $$$$ and use up lots of your time that you could be drivnig instead.....makes sense doesn't it? You can get it easier at Pep Boys for only $18.00. You can also use it for boats and dry dock boats under the haul so no more barnacles will grow.

Did you use ZFX with the Z-5? You did mean Z-2 and not Z-1 correct? If you are getting smearing you probably applied it too thick, not a problem, just wash and your car will look fine. Call Sal at 732-833-8800 on Tuesday, he would be happy to go over the application process with you.

I have been using Zaino for several years and I have a nice black finish. My take on this is that the surface is clean, robust, and without residue, but when you touch such a clean dark colored car you will leave finger prints/smudges due to the natural oils in your skin. I see this everytime someone touches my car. Then I have to break out the Z6 and a towel to wipe them off.

You probably won't see this with a wax since most have silicone oils in them....and what's a little bit more oil.

later,
Richard

There are always far more people 'reading' than answering/asking the questions (on this or any other forum)

~One man’s opinion / observations~

I would add the following to Glenn27 excellent How-To-
·Mix solution (one ounce of Z-5 or Z-2 in a mixing bottle, and add 4 or 5 drops of ZFX.
.Shake vigorously for one minute and then allow the cure accelerator to activate (about 30 seconds)
·There is no need to use ZFX for every application, although using ZFX will give you a brighter and deeper looking finish
·Wipe down the entire vehicle with Z-6 using 100% cotton Microfiber towel.
·Shake the Z-Solution again for 30 seconds.
·Lightly spray a Microfiber applicator with Z-6. You want the pad to be damp, not wet.
·Apply to whole vehicle (0.5 – 1.0 oz should be sufficient for most vehicles) taking care not to apply to absorbent surfaces (i.e., unpainted plastics and rubber trim)
·Lightly spray Z-6 between each coat of Z- solution; check the applicator pad frequently for any contaminants it may have picked up.

Tip-Apply Z-solution very thinly using absolute minimum pressure on the applicator.

~Hope this helps~

That is exactly what happened I could not find the thread so first THANKS to all who replied. Yes I meant z2 not z1. I have washed the car now 2 times and it seems to be better I will work on it a little more this weekend. I found that I can still buff it up using the shine enhancer

Thanks Again
