Just wondering what kind of wax (if any) if put on these cars from the factory? I know everyone is loving this Zaino stuff but I believe there are a lot of other good ones out there too.
There are many waxes or polishes out there that are great - it all comes down to personal preference and possibly a little folklore. Frankly I'm sure that many of us cannot even tell the difference but somehow we get it into their head that one is better so we then SEE a differnece... myself included.
I, for one, have had good luck with the new next generation Meguiars. NXT. Maybe not quite the Zaino, but for cost and ease(bad back) of application, it's close enough.

I was a Zaino man for 5 years, but switched to NXT and saw a big difference. My C5 was white which does not show the depth that the darker colors show. The NXT was much deeper and richer on the white.
Just applied the show glaze, NXT and #26 yellow carnuba on the C6 and it looks fantastic.
I like the P21S system.Paint cleanser removes light swirl, etc, and the concours quality wax(carnauba and beeswax)is very easy to apply. The Bodywork Shampoo will not remove the wax,and your sheepskin feels like it is floating over the surface.Best of all,the wax doesn't seem to attract dust. The Classic Garage had a website special on this system, including their wheel cleaner, before Christmas for under $50 delivered.
I've been using Zaino on my 1989 coupe for the last 3 years, and the car looks incredible. Even the original owner -a very good freind of mine - can't believe how good it looks. And the car has never been repainted. I think the biggest problem is, people don't take the time to read the directions! You have to wash the car with Dawn to remove old wax. You have to use good quality towels to prevent scratches. Both will help any finish. After that Zaino is like an other polish. They recomend using a clay bar, they recomend using Z6. You don't have to. But how GOOD do you what your Corvette to look. You do a couple extra steps, and believe me it's worth it. I get a lot of compliments on my car, especially when I say "the paint is all original". As far as cost. Considering it lasts longer than wax ( Guru Reports, 2002), it's not even a consideration. How much did you spend on your Corvette? And it's not just me who likes Zaino. Page 60 in Corvette Quartley, winter 2004, recomends Zaino for car care. Page 76 in Vette magazine Feburay 2005, recomends Zaino clay bar for car care. As you can tell, I really like the product.
I sold my 6 year old C5 a few months ago, and it still looked showroom new. Waxed maybe once or twice yearly, and generally used a Meguiar's product. Maybe it's cause I paid extra for the Mag Red.
Sure a full Zaino looks better. It's like audiophile stereo equipment, where you put a great deal more in to get just a little more out. OK for a real show, but I'd bet something like NXT would fool >90% out there, and would take a side-by-side to tell. Personally, I'd go Zaino, if I could, but my bad back won't oblige. Something like NXT is 90% cheaper and easier, and ends up close to 90% as fine a job.
I Searched For A Wax That Was Specific For Mettallic Painted Cars. I Have A Quasar Blue 93 Coupe And It Just Didn't Give Me That Wow. I Purchased Pinnacle Signature Series Kit- Wash, Body Polish, Wax And Auto Detailer Kit And They Trew In 2 Micro Fiber Clothes. The Body Polish Floored Me It Was So Good. The Wax And Detailer Were Equally As Good And The Ease Of Applying Was Awesome. My Car Came Out Better Than I Had Hoped For.
Good Luck
Exactly what all is "too much work"??? Since prep is NOT a Zaino thing, that can't be it. Let's see, wash, apply and remove, no I never had to do that with any other product. So what is the "too much work"?????
Zaino is the easiest product to use I've ever tried in dozens of products for 35 years.
The factory doesn't apply and wax product.
What you decide is best for you depends on what your needs are. I want it all, shine, durability, protection, ease of use, cost per application, all of which is why I use Zaino. Trying different products is how you'll find out what YOU think is best.
