Cleaning Engine compartment
Thanks
1. Make sure your engine is warm. Keep it running through out the entire cleaning process. Also, make sure you cover vital parts such as the battery/all the wiring there. I find a large garbage bag works very well.
2. There are many engine cleaners out there. My personal favorite is Griots Garage Engine Cleaner. Spray your engine down with water. Clean in small areas. Spray a small area down, let it sit. Use a rag/brush whatever you want to clean the area. Hose off when your done. Working in small areas is better because you can take your time to get into those nooks and crannies.
3. To make those rubber hoses and plastic parts new again there are alot of options. A bottle of Armor All will work fine for this. There are alot of other products out there...use what works for you. 303 Aerospace Protectant also works great for this. Personally I use Mothers Back To Black on all rubber hoses. Gives them a very nice natural clean look to them.
This is only my 2 cents. There are tons of products out there. Use what has worked for you in the past and you will be fine. Hope this helps ya.
Thanks

·Spray all electrical connectors with WD40, which repels water.
·Use cling-film or Saran wrap elastic covers to cover any sensors, electrical black boxes, electrical devises that could cause an electrical short-circuits if subjected to water spray.
·This will not guarantee that you wont cause a problem when cleaning an engine bay but it will greatly reduce the risks.
Start and run the engine to get it warm, not hot, this will enable the de-greaser to work more efficiently on a warm surface.
~Hope this helps~
