Default helmet!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true

Bell Tourlite SC M2000
I'm checking out this ebay store deal....
Newbie questions here bear with me.

Is that a good helmet? Any gripes, comments, anything.
Also how do the sizes work? I noticed 7 to 7 7/8. I'll probably go to the local motorcycle dealer and see what fits me, but what do those numbers actually mean?

Before you go to eBay check this out. http://www.saferacer.com/

And I would recommend an SA2000 rated helmet. You may want to do something other than drag racing and the SA2000 would be required.

7 to 7 7/8 refers to hat size and having bought one my size fit perfectly. I purchased a G Force helmet.

Helmet sizes are a very touchy thing. The fit differs alot from manufacturer to manufacturer. I know from experiencing this last year when buying a new helmet.

I was looking at helmets on Ebay too, but then ended up getting one at a local shop instead. When trying them at the shop, the same size in different brands were night and day, some fit, otheres did not.

I'd suggest buying your helmet at a shop where you can try them on.

About a month ago, I bought that same helmet from Bell's website for $79.95. I also got the quick-release strap for an extra $10. This is my first helmet so I have nothing to compare it with. I bought the medium and it fits fine.

I agree with Korreck, get yourself an SA2000 rated helmet. The SA2000 is not only fire rated but, it's also rated for multiple impacts. M2000 does "NOT" carry these ratings. Don't be cheap in this area! Get the best helmet you can afford, the life it saves may be yours.

Harry this helmet should be fine.

Guys, Harry's funds are limited as are his racing activities.

His car is not as quick as some of ours so he will be fine. Some tracks may not even require him to wear a helmet.

I agree that it may be fine Edgar. But things change. He gets a faster car, whips your butt in a drag race and now he needs another helmet. Spend a couple of extra bucks now and have a helmet for life.

The real thing that I'm worried about regarding the helmet is when I switch to NASCAR Weekly Series, but their rules change so often I'm best off waiting til the time comes whether it be this summer or next summer to see what kind of ratings I need on it. I bought a helmet similar to that one, it's a Bell open faced helmet. I found one for cheaper, fits fine, looks fine, meets more than the minimum requirements. I'll be okay for now. Thanks for the help guys

Default Another Newbie

The ECS Corvette Challange on Saturday was my first Drag event and of course I rented one of those Dork helmets. Now that I have been hooked, and can't wait for April 2nd, I bought one off of e-bay. I know I'm just asking for a flaming but what do you think for a Rookie driver? Be kind
