Default setting the engine back on a C3

i was chating with a guy last night at the pavillions in scotsdale, looking at the BBC C3 he had built. i am working (slowly ) on my own C3. i have a 75 I am planing on pulling the body off to back half, i have been putting together a 496 with 871 blower motor for it. he had set his motor back 3 inches in the frame, said it launched better that way, helped with the traction. now he had the IRS still in it but i am backhalfing mine and will run a ford 9 inch with big tires, hopfuly something like 31x16. with that much meat for traction would i still want to move the engine back. this thing has gotton complicated enough but if it will make that much difference, well. you know.

i can't see needing to move it back that for. I moved mine back a 1/4 inch just so the oil pan would clear the drag link.

panchop,
please keep us posted as your car progresses. I'd like to see the process of back halfing. I'm sure most of the C3 guys would love to see that too.
