Default Clutch Issue

Last night I was out racing..

I came up to the line put car in Comp mode reved up to 2K and let her rip..

after the intial luunge I noticed that the RPM's where climbing but I wasn't going any faster. this occured throught 1 and 2 when I hit third it felt like the clutch grabbed and the car finally took off...

after I was done you could smell the clutch...

my questions is I have a 01 MN5 with only 30K miles.. with intake, exhaust and ECU.. is it possible I spun my clutch and messed it up?? I took it for a spin today and it feels fine.. I even launched it from a stop just to see and besides the A/H coming on it pulled like normal..

I plan on putting the procharger kit on and getting come major ponies out of the vette.. so shouls I just get the clutch replaced with something that can handle the HP that will eventually have or I am I good and I can wait untill I put the procharger in untill I upgrade the clutch???

Thanks

I burned a clutch up at the track one time. I let it cool down for about two hours made some more runs and all was well after that.

I would definitely upgrade if you are beefing up the HP.

Check out Excedy clutches. A fellow club member is running one on his Pro Charged Z and has great reliability with it. It's a little pricey but what the heck, a Vettes worth it.

I remember reading in this section an explanation to that phenomenum. They said the clutch plate glazes over as it heats up and loses grip. As it cools down, it returns to normal. Maybe someone can chime in and confirm.
