I am now looking for YOU to tell me who you want to lead the series next year....NOT THIS YEAR.....next year
I will finish what I started but since I cannot please YOU, you tell me who you think can please YOU and I will worke with Bob T and Dennis K and Raceway Park to see if they will accept you as an organizer and I can go back to my regularly scheduled life.
Yeah, we can tell John he caught a break with the weather, and now he's the new organizer......now THAT is a scary thought.
Edgar, i hope you don't think all of our bxtch'n was in anyway directed at you. I'm sure you're more frustrated with the situation than anybody. Sort of a thankless, no win situation for you. It doesn't help that Mackey makes light the whole thing either......kinda like throw'n nitro at an open flame.
Dude, i don't blame you for wanting to throw in the towel, but i for one, don't want to see that happen. I wish i could offer my assistance, but i have exactly zero free time. Maybe someone will step up to help take some of the weight off your shoulders. In the meantime, crack open a cold one
Isn't there a TOP racer with tons of experience & good ideas who recently moved right around the corner from Englishtown, and who is now retired? He might be a good person to assist & help..

I think that was directed at me.
I have thrown my name in the hat to help with the series. I think that this series is like any other type of an event/series - The more it grows in size - The more people are needed to run/organize it. One person can not run the whole series. Are all decisions made by one person? Or are they discussed and decided on by the three members? I understand that there is also Bob and Dennis but when you think about what is done, You need more then three people. This is my 2 cents. If the three people feel that they are able to handle all duties - Then no one else is needed. I think from looking in from the outside that there is an overload of work.
My thoughts on a make up race in July, With two other races scheduled for that month - If there where no other dates open from now till Oct. - Then it is OK. I think that most people have plans for July since the kids are out of school and all that other stuff NON DIE HARD DRAG RACERS DO By looking at the schedule I see that there are not many dates for a make up. Here are some dates that I think would have worked 8-20-05, 8-27-05 and 10-29-05.
I am not a track owner or operator but I have to look at both sides and think that maybe these dates where not chosen for some reason.
This season has started on a bad foot. The track had a delay opening due to the bad winter, A whole lot of rain causing the track to be closed - Who knows, Chris maybe our 2005 Champ if it always rains on our race days.

Edgar!!! The vast majority I'm sure love and appreaciate what you do, and Bob Mancuso at the Moroso challenge is seeing what dedication it takes to run these as well. There will always be some grumbling and you CANNOT PLEASE EVERYONE! But you are the true life to this series both in NJ & the Nation!
We all feel the pressure and since we do this all volunter(no $ made), personal satisfaction out of seeing so many come from zero experiance to awesome foot-brakers is our reward.
I am thankful I had Fuzzy last year and have Shawn (Wolf) this year to help....it is a team effort and many drivers do alot to promote the series.
Time for you to come down for the week..May 14th!! You vacation suite is waiting!!

Edgar, how many time have I told you "Do what is right for the series" You can't care or worry about what other think.
I would get hate e-mail everyday, but you won't fine anyone jumping up to take over the series the way you know it has to be run.
With Bob T. retireing from GM and moving on to other thing and Dennis K. to be honest I didn't know he any involvement with the series since he quite on me a few years ago, so I don't think anyone of them are the answer.
To me you are the only one to lead this group, I would have never left the series if you were not there to lead the way. I would not feel right with anyone else running the series.
Please reconsider and the hell with everyone else.

You get input from those around you but only one person need steer the ship. Where someone like Edgar is overloaded is not on the decision making process but on the other stuff that no one else wants or can do. Writting the articals, doing the web site, taking the photos and stuff like that.
David Napp give the final OK on everything, a panel is not needed.

This racer was talked about with Raceway Park by me over 2 years ago but for some reason they were not receptive to adding that person to the staff.

Edgar, No matter what you do some people are not going to be happy. It seems that most don't like the dates and you're not responsible for picking the dates Englishtown is. It's great to have people offer ideas, but you have to do what you feel is best for the overall series and not worry about what you cannot control. If people have a problem with the rain dates maybe they should be talking to Englishtown and not you.
Hang in the majority think your doing a great job and don't want to see you give up running the challenge.
Hey Edgar, at future Corvette events I can show up with my digital camera since I have a free employee pass and live a mile away? Can take a couple of videos but it's mostly good for pics... Awesome quality. That would take at least something off your shoulders. Also writing articles I could do.

Just keep on pleasing the other 90 something racers, and don't get down because of the ones who tend to be overly critical. Listen to what they have to say but, remember it's impossible to please everyone and i'm sure they know that. Keep up the SUPER JOB YOU DO! Bob
I know I'm new and probably don't have much of a say but here goes anyways. I bought the Vette for its history, meaning and fun. Anything I do with the car needs to bring me joy, excitement or perma-grin. When I talked myself into going to the March 19th CC, I didn't know what to expect. What I found was about 85 people, out for a great day, and having fun. As newbies we felt like old timers and that was a nice feeling. I have been in "clubs" where you always feel shunned until, if you are lucky, you work yourself into the inner circle.
I can understand the the issue associated with the points and how competition always spices up the bet, but to most of us its all about the fun. You can't lose site of where, in the ladder of life, racing in the CC lies. To us its a special add-on that not too many people will ever be able to enjoy. The friendships, the stories, the laughs etc. are the "points" I am seeking. I am responsible for for 10's of millions of dollars, schedules and customer satisfaction at work and when I am in the Vette...... what job?
It's alot like going on vacation with 90 families Do you think you are ever going to get all 90 to agree to a place to eat? Hope this doesn't re-open the wound. Just a newbies point of view.
Well said! This is FUN!!! We run profesional (a for profit corp) racing and it is taxing to say the least. These series help create a few talented racers that go on to pursue their passion, but for most....it is to have fun with this great car!!!
I still fail to see where anyone said they were unhappy with YOU or infer they could do a better job, Edgar. I think you're reading things into the statements, opinions, and suggestions people have made. Any unsupportive opinions can be construed as derogatory if you dwell on them enough or take them out of context. Forums like this have a way of making the written word seem worse than it is. And just because people disagree with you over one or two points doesn't mean they're ingrates. Perhaps they think you have the capacity to hear them out and know they still respect you.
You've got to take the good with the bad, my friend. And you've gotten PLENTY of support from us over the years. What makes you think now is any different? I think it would be a mistake for you to quit. I say, delete this thread and trudge forward. It's not a totally thankless job and you know it. It's just a pain between the praise.
Edgar, I wouild like to congratulate you on doing a fine job of handling the Corvette Challenge series.
I've experienced "job burnout" and, if that's the base reason for this post, it's understandable. But if it's not, please don't let some critizism get to you. As with any "job", you can't always please all the people.
Continue to do your best and take the satisfaction that comes from doing a good job in a sport that you really enjoy. Know that your efforts are truely appreciated by your fellow racers.
