EFI Eliminator had 9 competitors in Belle Rose, with New Jersey’s Edgar Perez showing the rest of the pack the way to the front when he took the top spot in qualifying with a blast of 11.509 on his F/EFI index of 11.50. Following the red ’99 Corvette were Jenni Merrick, Glenn Waguespack, Scott Ercole, Paul Schiavon, Andy Thompson, Joe Grisiaffi, Floyd Russo, Jr. and Brian Wenrick.
Schiavon, Wenrick, Ercole and Waguespack all won their respective first round match-ups, while Perez was the beneficiary of a bye run, thanks to his qualifying effort. In quarterfinal action, Waguespack had the single, while Perez took out Schiavon and Wenrick put Ercole on the trailer.
Semifinal competition saw Wenrick move on to the final courtesy of a bye run, leaving Perez and local runner Waguespack to face-off for the privilege of moving on to the day’s last race. In a battle of Corvettes, Perez kept his weekend alive by bettering Waguespack’s 10.101 on a 10.00 C/EFI index with a pass of 11.596 on his 11.50.
With everything on the line, Perez completed a clean sweep of EFI when Wenrick’s Ohio-based ’52 ****** left .013-seconds too early, handing the win to the man from New Jersey.

That was my first national competition in the EFI Eliminator class and my first national win.
I was extemely happy to get the win as that was a 3000 mile round trip. The trip back was very good but I got a headache from smiley so much.
