Default I bailed out

Put the hardtop and drag radials on the 68 and headed out at 2pm for the ECSCC today. I78 to GSP south... was ok for a couple of miles and then traffic slowed to a crawl... I gave it a couple of miles and bailed out, came home thru Westfield. Lots of fun things to do on a beautiful warm sunny Saturday, but sit in traffic in a 68 bigblock 4spd is not one of them! :

I can now come out of the closet..... I never even made an attempt based on the traffic reports and th 3 PM start. My trip is 2 1/2 hours each way plus on a good day. I do feel a bit embarrased though; please don't hold it against me

Never again will I make that trip. We're going down on Fri nights from now on. Took us 4 1/2 hrs. to get there. As soon as we hit 684 traffic was backed up. We're just north of Danbury. Coming back that night was good.

Normally the 9 AM starts are OK. Sounds like you had the ride from hell. Living on the Island, I find there never really is a "good" time to travel. Only more tolerable times!!!! Will be back there next week, weather permitting.

Will say hi as we haven't met yet.

Probably take you just as long on a Friday night, but at least there is no pressure to get there until Saturday.....

See you Saturday.

I got to the track in time for one run. Didn't know that would be my only run so I ran cold just to see what the car would do. Next thing I know they're calling us up for first round.

You're right about the pressure. I raced like crap and told Mary I just can't concentrate and do a good job when I'm outta my groove. Must be an age thing. Chris (Insanity) went through the same traffic I did and ran fine all day.

I made the trip from East Meadow, Long Island and it took me 2.5 hrs to get there on Sat. I left at 1:00pm and got to the track at 3:30pm.

Lucky the track was empty and I got my 4 Time runs.

Got home in 1.5 hours, so that was a good thing.

JP. So I put a little azz whoopen on ya and now you're wanting me to show up early on the 6TH so I'll be tired by the time we race in the PM. Nice try.

It was just as bad coming from East Lyme, CT (New London). 4 1/2 hours. Get there and then have to rush to get the car up for trials. The worst part...the car acts up and won't run! Problems with the nitrous fuel pressure safety sensor. Their calling everybody up every 2 seconds so there's no time to diagnose and fix the car. All in all, I'll never do that trip again. Coming down and getting there around 8:00 am avoids any traffic problems on the Tap. and the GSP. On the plus side, my wife and I sat in the stands and got to be spectators for a while before we headed back out for what turned out to be a decent trip back. Repairs are underway and I expect I'll see you all Sat.

I'm with you Mark. If ya can't run or when you lose, sit and watch some good racing. There's a plus to everything.
